RBO08-40T is an axial leaded TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode which is specifically designed to protect circuits and components from transients. It can keep the circuit stable and safe from capacitor discharges, lightning flashes, inductive switching and other fast surges.The RBO08-40T has a glass passivated junction which helps protect against the worst case transient voltages and corrosion. These devices have a peak clamping voltage of 400V and a maximum knee current of 210mA. They are capable of handling both bidirectional and surge current and can be used in applications with a maximum operating junction temperature of 175°C. It has a low capacitance which allows a fast response to transient pulses.RBO08-40T application field mainly includes: automotive electronics, industrial electronics, telecom equipment, computers and peripheral equipment, sensing and measurement instrument, power supply circuit, and military and hazardous environments. In automotive electronics, it can be used for surge protection of power supply, input/output circuit, on-board communication line, etc. It is also suitable for industrial electronics such as control systems and protection circuits. RBO08-40T has a very simple working principle. When a surge occurs, the device will clamp the voltage at a predetermined level. This clamping voltage is a consequence of the semiconductor junction’s voltage-current (V-I) characteristic. Therefore, when over-voltage strikes, the diode\'s conduction increases in proportion with the applied voltage. As the diode enters conduction, it will clamp the voltage at a value determined by the junction\'s V-I curve. Since this device is able to enter conduction very quickly, it is very efficient in suppressing surges.Overall, the RBO08-40T is an excellent solution for providing surge protection. It offers fast response to transient pulses, a low capacitance, a peak clamping voltage of 400V, and a wide operating temperature range.
