RCLAMP0551P.TST is a up to 1.5GHz, uni-directional, single line TVS-Diode in SOT-143R package. It provides ESD protection up to ±25kV contact and, ±30kV air, and is suitable for applications requiring IEC61000-4 - 2 level 4 ESD protection. It has very low capacitance (0.5pF typical) and low leakage current (0.1µA maximum).

Application Field

RCLAMP0551P.TST is designed for automotive and industrial protection against ESD events on high speed data lines. The device is pin-compatible with U.FL, MMCX and SMA connectors. It can be used in USB 2.0, DVI, HDMI, Ethernet, SATA, DisplayPort, RF or other high speed data line ports. It also complies with ECMA and ISO standards for protecting against electro static discharge.

Working Principle

TVS-Diodes such as RCLAMP0551P.TST operate by clamping or limiting the voltage across the protection device. TVS-Diodes are typically composed of two or more PN junctions connected in series and are designed to limit the voltage to a safe level when an ESD event occurs. The voltage across the device is limited by the breakdown voltage of the PN junction. During an ESD event, the voltage is clamped at the breakdown voltage, protecting the inputs of the IC from higher voltages. The current of the ESD event is then diverted away from the IC, protecting it from possible damage.

The RCLAMP0551P.TST is a uni-directional ESD protection diode, which means it only provides protection against ESD events on the forward or anode side. It has a protection voltage of 5.8V (maximum) and maximum leakage current of 0.1µA. The very low leakage current helps to prevent any unintentional current flow to the protected components, thus providing maximum protection.
