Working Principle:

REG102GA-3/2K5 is a three-terminal positive voltage regulator with an integrated voltage reference, current reference and current limit circuit. The REG102GA-3/2K5 features a current-limited, foldback-mode of operation. An internal voltage reference sets the output voltage with an external resistor, and an internal current-sense circuit monitors the output current, which limits it to the preset values. The current limit is designed to foldback in an overload condition. When current through the regulator exceeds the current limit, the device is designed to reduce its output voltage and thus reduce the output current.
