The REG104FA-3.3/500 is a linear-regulator type Voltage Regulator. It uses two metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) to operate in a linear mode.When in operation, the device monitors the input current, and is responsible for regulating the output voltage to the desired level. The voltage output is regulated by an internal voltage reference, which is typically 0.45 V. When the input voltage is higher than the output voltage, the MOSFETs supply current to the load. If the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, then the MOSFETs will be turned off, thus preventing any current from flowing to the load.In normal operations, the current being supplied to the load is determined by the difference between the inputs voltage and the output voltage, as well as by the current output capability of the device. The REG104FA-3.3/500 also features a built-in over-current and thermal protection, which prevents the device from being damaged in case of over current or thermal overload.Conclusion
