In effect, the diode works like a switch, passing current when the forward voltage is sufficient to overcome the diode voltage drop (Vf).
When the diode is reverse biased, i.e., the anode is more negative than the cathode, the reverse current flow is very small due to the low leakage current of the diode. This low leakage current prevents any significant current flow, effectively blocking reverse current flow. Furthermore, the reverse leakage current through the diode is much smaller than the current it can block during a forward bias operation.
The RGP15GHE3/54 is capable of handling high surge currents, making it suitable for a variety of applications and environments. It is also capable of high-speed switching, making it suitable for inverter and AC/DC power applications.
