The RM46L850PGET is a high performance, low power 32 bit Arm Cortex-M4 processor with Floating Point Unit (FPU) and DSP Engine for advanced Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs). This device combines the high performance of DSCs with low power consumption, which makes it ideal for applications that demand high levels of processing power in a low power environment. It also comes equipped with a wide range of other features such as advanced peripherals, real-time clock, and programmable EEPROM memory.
The RM46L850PGET is primarily used for embedded control applications, such as for motor control, automotive applications, industrial automation, robotics, and home automation. It is also used in other applications such as consumer electronics, communication infrastructure, and dedicated embedded systems.
Working Principle
The ARM Cortex-M4 processor provides the core processing performance with the ARM architecture, while the floating point unit (FPU) provides the support for single instruction multiple data (SIMD) instructions, as well as reduced latency on heavily pipelined instructions. The FPU is also capable of operating on vector quantities, which helps to reduce the workload of complex mathematical operations.
