Power Line Filter Modules have become increasingly important for products or digital electronic equipments. Although many products have a certain built-in EMC circuit, for better and stable performance, it is inevitable to use the Power Line Filter Modules. In this article, we will discuss the application fields and working principles of RSMN-2020L, one of commonly used power line filter modules.
RSMN-2020L is a new-type power line filter module, which is mainly applied to the differential and common mode line filters. It mainly includes two parts, the EMC filter part and the connector part. With a high selection of components and the choice of different current rating, RSMN-2020L can be used in many different applications, such as lighting fixtures, electronic equipment, medical equipments, and more.
RSMN-2020L has excellent EMC performance and is able to suppress the high frequency noise on the power supply line. The filter design adopted perm/chip package filtering technology and ultra-slim housing design, with a large rated current and strong anti-interference ability. Its defensive specifications include differential impedance of 5MΩ, common mode impedance of 10MΩ, and attenuation of both 40dB and 50dB. Moreover, the temperature coefficient for the device is from -40℃ to 105℃, making it convenient to use in all kinds of environments.
The working principle of RSMN-2020L is essentially an inductor and capacitor is integrated together as a parallel resonance circuit. The capacitor shunts Leakage current channels to ground while the inductor helps to reduce the impedance at the filter’s resonant frequency, thus achieving the targeted noise cancellation. The resonant frequency is determined by the inductance and capacitance of the inductor-capacitor pair, and these components work together to form a low pass filter circuit that attenuates high-frequency signals. In other words, by careful tuning of the inductor, capacitor and other components, RSMN-2020L is capable of suppressing the high frequency interference and making sure that the power line is clean.
