Depending on the input voltage, the buck converter first works in Burst Mode or Pulse-Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode, which helps reduce the total power consumption. The buck converter will then automatically transit to Constant On Time (COT) mode once the output voltage reaches its target value, achieving higher efficiency. In addition, the buck converter can shut down when the system is in idle or standby modes, which helps reduce the total system power consumption.The RT7258GSP also includes a pre-charge circuitry for the output capacitor that helps reduce the voltage drop in the initial startup.
