The RT8299ZQW is a synchronous DC-DC Buck Switching Regulator with integrated power switch and operating at 2.25MHz switching frequency with low noise and ripple output. This device is designed to be used as power source for electronics equipment mentioned compact portable applications and is capable of providing up to 2.2A output current. The RT8299ZQW is built on BiCMOS process technology to support a wide input voltage of 4.5V to 16V and a wide output voltage of 0.7V to 5.5V. It features surface-mount 8-pin WSON package and SOIC-8 package.

Working Principle of RT8299ZQW

The RT8299ZQW is a synchronous buck switching regulator with a control loop consisting of a voltage detection comparator, a bandgap reference, and a current sensing comparator. The internal synchronous power MOSFET accurately controls the output voltage in response to the feedback voltage. The internal circuitry senses the voltage difference between the feedback voltage and the bandgap reference voltage, compares it to the current limit, and adjusts the MOSFET gate drive on/off period to maintain the regulated output voltage. The regulation loop is also designed to provide optimal transient response characteristics.

The RT8299ZQW also integrates an adjustable soft-start circuit and an adjustabler current limit that provides protection from output current overload events. The built-in thermal shutdown function limits the maximum chip temperature and protects the device from thermal stress. In addition, the device features an adaptive control system to reduce the switching losses and lower the output voltage ripple.
