Working Principle

RURD660 rectifier diodes act as one-way valves, allowing current to flow in only one direction. In a rectifier circuit, the diodes block current from flowing in an undesired direction while allowing current to flow in the other direction.

Rectifier diodes are constructed with an anode and a cathode. The terminal connected to the anode is the positive terminal, while the terminal connected to the cathode is the negative terminal. When a direct current passes through the diode, current flows from the anode to the cathode. When an alternating current passes through the diode, current flows in both directions, but is blocked from passing through when the polarity is reversed. This process is called rectification.
