The layers are PNPN (positive-negative-positive-negative), as illustrated in the diagram below. When the gate voltage is applied, electrons are injected into the P-N junction at the gate, and this causes the charge carriers to be trapped at the junction, forming the negative resistance characteristic of the SCR. This can be used to switch high current through the device with only a low voltage control signal.S2010VS2 DiagramThe working principle of the S2010VS2 SCR is based on the two-stage operation known as the forward blocking and forward conducting states.
