The SA8.0CA is a TVS, or Transient Voltage Suppressor, diode that is used to protect electrical circuits from voltage surges. It is made of a combination of both silicon and a metal oxide semiconductor, which makes it ideal for protecting against ESD, or Electrostatic Discharge, events. It is also suitable for use in AC or DC power systems as well as low-voltage communication systems.

The SA8.0CA has a peak pulse power rating of 8kW with a peak impulse current rating of 16A. It is capable of suppressing up to 2000 volts in a peak pulse duration of 1/2 μs minimum. It provides a response time of just 10ns following the application of an ESD spike, making it a very reliable surge protection device. The available working voltage range is from 5 to 10V, and it has a reverse breakdown voltage of 10.2V.

The primary application field for the SA8.0CA is to protect power and communication circuits from overvoltage and ESD transients.
