SB3100TA is a fast recovery rectifier diode compatible with UL1577 standard and specially designed for high performance electronic applications. This rectifier is a type of diode that affects electric current flow. It is a three-terminal device operating in a bi-directional manner and can be used to substitute silicon bridge rectifiers. It is mainly used in pulsed operation, fly back diodes, recovered rectifiers and snubber applications. It is also used in combination with AC/DC converters, household appliances, battery charging systems, switching mode power supplies, and other power-related applications. The working principle of the SB3100TA can be summarized as follows. It uses a semi-conductor process to convert alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) into a substantially constant DC voltage. This is done by passing input current through the diodes which selectively direct current in the desired direction and block it in the opposite direction. The SB3100TA is designed specifically for fast recovery times. It has a reverse recovery time of about 2 nano-seconds which is significantly lower than most rectifier diodes in the market. It also has an average forward current of 3 A, a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 100V and a maximum repetitive peak forward current of 8 A. The SB3100TA is available in a variety of termination options such as through-hole or SMD. It also has a compact size which makes it possible to fit in densely populated printed circuit boards (PCB). This ensures overall system reliability and a low EMI (electromagnetic interference) radiation.For pulse applications, the SB3100TA’s ability to deliver full current in as fast as 8nS helps reduce consumed power and maximize system efficiency. This is due to the device’s highly reliable metallized electrodes which diminish current flow’s impact on recovery time and reduce losses. Its bi-directional current flow is enabled by an N-type and a P-type semiconductor junction, which is designed to increase current-carrying capacity and reduce PIV (Peak Inverse Voltage) levels. Its peak forward voltage is also very low, helping to maximize system performance.The SB3100TA is also suitable for a variety of operating temperatures, ranging from -65°C to 150°C, due to its high insulation performance and increased frequency range. It is also able to withstand a surge overload current of up to 10A while operating at temperatures up to 125°C.Overall, the SB3100TA is a fast recovery rectifier diode which is beneficial for a variety of high performance applications and helps reduce system consumption and maximize efficiency. Its bi-directional current flow and wide operating temperature range also provide increased reliability and help improve system performance.
