PMIC - Gate Drivers are power management integrated circuits (PMICs) used to control and activate various electronic, electrical, and electromechanical devices. The SC1205CSTRT is a three-phase bridge gate driver IC designed to drive three N-channel MOSFETs or IGBTs. It is designed to reduce board size and complexity in high current motor and lighting control applications, providing cost savings and efficiency gains.The SC1205CSTRT combines high-side and low-side three-phase circuits into a single module for up to 9A of continuous output current in each channel. Its high switching frequency capability and wide range of control signals make it a suitable choice for multiple applications which require low cost and energy efficient solutions.The module’s operation is based on one of two input drive types; a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal or a voltage mode signal. The PWM input has a wide range of frequency (8kHz – 100kHz) and it can also provide a variable duty cycle range allowing the output waveforms to be fine tuned to the application’s requirements. The voltage mode input allows control of the driver waveforms with 0-5V,0-10V, 0-12V, 0-18V or 0-24V signals.The gates of the MOSFETs/IGBTs are driven by output switches which can either be open drain or configured as totem-pole in order to reverse the polarity of the power output. The totem-pole configuration also provides an active low-side drive. The output switches are capable of driving up to 9A and they feature additional protection circuits.The SC1205CSTRT is highly integrated to simplify the circuit board design and reduce user cost. It features an automatic power on reset circuit, dynamic voltage scaling and a fault detection circuit that can send out a signal when a fault is detected in the system.
