It is capable of driving the high and low side of multiple power MOSFETs, and provides reliable short-circuit and thermal overload protection.

Working Principle

The SC1302ESTRT is based on a charge-pump voltage source drive. Battery voltage, external voltage source, or PWM signals are used to power the driver. The high and low side inputs are connected to the logic to control the switching of the power MOSFETs. A quadrature clock direction control (QCDC) is used to provide pulse synchronization between the two MOSFETs for each direction change. This allows for smooth and repeatable control of the PWM signals.

The charge pump voltage source drive provides high speed switching and low noise operation. The driver utilises clocked pulse-width modulation (CPwm) as well as adjustable ramping to enable higher efficiency, reduce switching losses and enable high speed commutation. The CPwm and adjustable ramping prevent the switching losses from occurring and keep the driver in the slowest current change region. An over-current protection circuit is also provided to protect the gate driver from over-current conditions.
