The SCAN921023SLCX is an advanced serializer and deserializer (SERDES) integrated circuit that provides high-speed, low power and data rate flexibility. It is designed to meet the needs of applications ranging from high throughput storage and networking, to long reach embedded systems.

The SCAN921023SLCX provides low power, high performance and eliminates the need for external clock distribution and aligning external clocks which leads to high system noise immunity and improved jitter performance. It supports all major Ethernet speeds, such as 10/100/1000 Mbps as well as higher rates, such as 10 gigabits per second for up to 1.5km reach.

The SCAN921023SLCX SERDES consists of two integrated circuits, a transmitter and a receiver, each with a parallel interface. The transmitter accepts three standard digital serial signals, a differential clock, a differential data and a control signal, and generates a serial data output. The receiver accepts the serial data and recovers the clock, data and control information from the stream of serial data.

The integrated circuits enable a number of advanced features including auto-adaptation and clock restart. An auto-adaptation feature allows the integrated circuit to adjust the data rate to optimize the performance of the circuits, while a clock restart feature enables communication across different frequencies. The SCAN921023SLCX also offers programmable pre-emphasis and equalization, as well as a programmable clock power-down temperature range.

At the transmitter, the SCAN921023SLCX performs data packing and scrambles the data packets to reduce data transmission errors. It supports an adjustable pre-emphasis and a programmable output drive strength.

At the receiver, the SCAN921023SLCX performs descrambling of the data packets, attempts to reconstruct the original data, performs data unpacking and provides a synchronous clock/data output for further usage by the system. The receiver provides programmable equalization to compensate for variations in the signal propagation environment over the transmission line.
