The SI5330L-B00229-GMR is a high-performance, programmable, I2C-programmable clock generator. It is a member of the industry-leading Silicon Labs timing family. The clock generator offers multiple high-frequency outputs, low jitter performance and has a fully differential tapped PLL input to improve jitter purity across a wide range of applications.
The SI5330L-B00229-GMR is ideal for clock and timing applications that require superior jitter performance, including backplane and optical transceivers, 10/40/100GE, faxing and imaging, modems and basebands, HDTV, portable and legal broadcasting, and ARM and DSP-based devices. It can also be used for data communications, computers, digital signal processing (DSP), digital rights management (DRM), and many other applications.
The SI5330L-B00229-GMR offers a variety of features that help maximize performance and minimize system design time. It provides four, eight, and up to ten selectable reference clocks. The device also offers four independent frequency multiplier output clocks, which enable four independent multiplier-based clocks. This allows the reference clocks to be mixed and matched in order to generate any clock frequency needed. The SI5330L-B00229-GMR also includes an internal voltage-controlled oscillator (VCOM) and si.com synchronization outputs to help reduce system jitter.
The SI5330L-B00229-GMR’s unique on-chip PLL provides the flexibility of clock steering and up to twelve output channels. These channels can be routed to support multiple types of jitter requirements. Output jitter values of 0.2 ps rms can be achieved at 16 kHz, and jitter characteristics from 0.5 to 10 kHz remain effectively unchanged. In addition, the PLL also offers excellent noise immunity and a fast lock time of about one second.
The SI5330L-B00229-GMR can be configured over the I2C digital interface. An on-chip EEPROM stores the configuration and settings, so that the device can be programmed on the fly. The device also supports an asynchronous reset input so that the user can reset their system without having to reprogram their system.
