The SI53321-B-GMR is a clock buffer, driver, and translator designed with advanced digital timing technologies to meet both high-performance and low-power requirements. It has multiple features such as low jitter synthesis, wide frequency range, low latency out-of-lock behavior, low power operation, and programmable output drive strength.

The buffer section implements fifty-four pin-compatible drive stages. Si53321-B-GMR supports one differential PECL/LVDS output, optionally two single-ended outputs, and optionally two pairs of spread spectrum outputs. Output drive strength is programmable for area/power optimization.

The driver section contains two symmetrical, differential PECL (isolated from the buffer outputs) driver stages. The buffer outputs may be connected to either one, or none of the drivers. An integrated, spread spectrum generator can either attenuate or widen jitter and minimize EMI radiation. Copper, aluminum, and FR4 printed circuit board traces can be routed to control the EMI spectrum, in addition to the spread spectrum generator.

Finally, the functionality of Si53321-B-GMR is programmable using I2C and SPI interfaces and a separate power-on-reset circuit provides a power-up state. The Si53321-B-GMR can also be used to adjust the output frequency. A multiplexer is also integrated which allows the user to select the desired combination of buffer outputs, drivers, and translator outputs.
