Working Principle:

The SI7051-EVB utilizes the same capacitive sensing technology used in most humidity sensors today. The sensor utilizes two plates – one insulated and one exposed – that act as a capacitor. When the humidity increases, the reverse happens, and the resistance decreases. The resistance between the plates is proportional to the amount of humidity in the air.

This signal is then fed to the processor chip, which converts the signal into a trend line. This trend line will allow the user to determine the level of humidity in the environment – expressed as a %RH.
