This sensor has the ability to measure humidity over a wide range from 0 to 85%RH, as well as temperature from -40°C to +125°C. It is I2C digital interface compatible and also packs an optional 5V DC input voltage rating. This makes the SI7020-A20-GM1R suited for industrial and commercial applications.

SI7020-A20-GM1R Working Principle

The SI7020-A20-GM1R uses a capacitive sensing technique that relies on a pair of parallel plates. One of these is made from an inert material that is highly sensitive to moisture, while the other is made from a non-porous material. When exposed to the vapor pressure of the air, the dielectric between the plates changes, altering the capacitance of the plates. This change is then measured by a dedicated semiconductor circuit, with the output signal being temperature and relative humidity.The relative humidity is determined by measuring the level of change in the capacitive value depending upon the environment and the temperature. For example, if the relative humidity increases, then the capacitive value increases and the temperature is measured at the same time. The
