The SI8250-IQR is an integrated power supply monitor and controller for use in task-specific applications requiring precise power control and monitoring. Developed by Silicon Labs, the SI8250-IQR is a versatile and cost-effective solution for power applications ranging from industrial and automotive/transportable to consumer and municipal. The SI8250-IQR has been designed to provide a broad range of power control and monitoring features required for trend-setting applications. The SI8250-IQR monitors both the supply voltage and current, and precisely controls the operational parameters of the system voltage, current and temperature. It has two selectable modes; a general-purpose feedback mode and a step response mode. If a system\'s load current draws more than the preset level, the feedback mode engages and reduces the supply voltage to an acceptable level. The step response mode is engaged when the system\'s temperature is higher than the preset level, where the SI8250-IQR reduces the voltage to cool it down. It also features an adjustable analog control output Current-Mode (CMO) for power supply optimization.

The SI8250-IQR operates from an on-chip, high-efficiency power stage (DC-DC converter) which provides both the power and control signals required for the application. It features an integrated power-savings feature (Power-Saver) for reduced system shutdown time, auto-configured and optimized supply sequencing, and an optimized signal flow control to simplify system design. The SI8250-IQR also supports analog and digital signal monitoring, current scaling, and over-temperature fault management.

The SI8250-IQR incorporates a proprietary signal sensing technology that supports the correct diagnosis and correction of fault conditions and reduces the risk of system instability. It also provides automatic compensation for component variations, and eliminates the need for minimum component specifications. In addition, the SI8250-IQR supports two additional feedback scheme options, proportional control and power-on-delay.
