The SI8281CD-IS is a compact and economical Isolators - Gate Drivers which allows for direct connection to the logic that controls low-side and high-side power devices. The device isolates gate-drive signals up to 1.2 kV and has a maximum sourcing current of 1.8 A. As a signal isolation solution in harsh environments, the device helps to eliminate ground loops and improve safety.
Using patented Silicon-Optic technology, the SI8281CD-IS isolates the logic side from the power side for improved system safety. It eliminates the need for additional protection components, such as opto-isolators and additional driver stages, thereby simplifying system design. Additionally, the device incorporates fault protection circuitry to protect against short-circuit, reverse current, and overvoltage, and diagnostic features.
