The SI8630BB-B-IS1 is a unidirectional digital isolator device that provides a maximum frequency of 800Mbps for its maximum data rate. The SI8630BB-B-IS1 also provides 3 kVrms electrical and thermal isolation between the two sides of the device, providing better protection from noise, ground loops, and system-level EMI.

The SI8630BB-B-IS1 digital isolator is based on a monolithic construction that combines two independent circuits. The two circuits are configured with two sets of complementary, identical transistors that are designed to switch between high and low voltage levels. Each transistor has a gate terminal attached to a voltage source that controls its power level. The transistors are configured in a bridge configuration. When the voltage source is high, the transistor that is in that level is turned on and the transistor that is in the opposite level is turned off. This causes a voltage level to exist on either side of the bridge. This makes it possible for the SI8630BB-B-IS1 to transfer digital signals from one side of the isolator to the other, providing complete isolation between the two sides.

The digital isolator is also designed to be ESD protected with a device level breakdown threshold of 8kV contact and 8kV air.
