The SIC402BCD-T1-GE3 is a linear and switching regulator integrated circuit. It is capable of supplying up to 6A of current with a wide variety of output voltages and includes features to manage over-current protection, over-temperature protection, output voltage accuracy and much more.

In its most basic form, the SIC402BCD-T1-GE3 is a linear and switching regulator that can take an input voltage between 4.5V and 15V and adjust it for an output voltage between 1.2V and 3.38V. It does this using several methods including pulse width modulation (PWM), pulse frequency modulation (PFM) and Hybrid Pulse Frequency Modulation (HPFM).

The PWM method works by switching the supply voltage on and off rapidly at a fixed frequency and duty cycle. This allows for a smooth voltage output at a preset level. The PFM works in a similar manner, but with a variable frequency and duty cycle, allowing for dynamic voltage regulation. The HPFM combines the best of both worlds, eliminating the need for complicated algorithms that require high-accuracy analog input offsets.

The SIC402BCD-T1-GE3 also includes several sophisticated protection mechanisms.
