SK35A-TP rectifier, also known as a single diode, is a semiconductor diode comprised of two terminals and a single-layer or multiple-layer matrix of alternating p-type and n-type semiconductor layers. It is one of the most commonly used components in a circuit, occupying a wide range of applications. The SK35A-TP rectifier can be used for the direct rectification of the AC current, either in high voltage AC to DC regulation, or low voltage general switching. As its structure and working principle suggest, the SK35A-TP rectifier also serves as a diode protection circuit and an interference filter.
The SK35A-TP rectifier is an integrated device with a silicon layer at the bottom and an epitaxial layer at the top. The p-type and n-type semiconductor layers form a PN junction and are joined together by a silicon nitride gate layer. This gate layer creates the necessary positive biasing effect which creates the two terminal ports that are commonly associated with the rectifier. The positive biasing effect also creates a reverse-biased diode, called the body diode, which is used to protect the internal circuitry of the SK35A-TP device.
The body diode works by allowing current to flow only when the applied voltage is of a positive polarity. This means that when a negative or no voltage is applied to the two devices, the body diode will block the current from passing through the metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) that lies between the two terminals. This means that even if the terminals of the SK35A-TP rectifier are directly connected, the device won\'t function as a rectifier, so it will never overheat or burn.
The SK35A-TP rectifier\'s most common application is in high voltage AC to DC conversion. In this application, the rectifier acts as a diode bridge rectifier, converting the alternating current from the power supply into a direct current that can be used by the load. It works by passing the alternating current through the two terminal ports of the device. As the current goes through, it alternates between positive and negative.
