Inrush Current Limiters (ICLs) are components in electrical engineering used to limit inrush current, usually when a device is being powered on. Thermal, resistive or inductive inrush current limiters are the three main types.

The SL10 2R505-A Inrush Current Limiter is a NTC Thermistor based inrush current limiter that is designed to limit the amount of inrush current for different power supply and load application across China. It is recommended for applications that require a temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

The SL10 2R505-A Inrush Current Limiter works by utilizing the mission of a PTC thermistor, both the ambient temperature and the peak temperature of the inrush current will affect the resistance of the thermistor. Typically, when power is applied to the inrush current limiter, the resistance is very low, allowing the current to pass through. When the current passing through the inrush current limiter has exceeded a certain peak point, the temperature of the limiter will rise rapidly. This heightens the resistance of the thermistor, limiting further current. The thermistor will cool gradually after the initial peak current has decreased, allowing the resistance to slowly decrease, enabling current to pass through again.

The SL10 2R505-A can be used to limit a maximum of 100A of inrush current within a few milliseconds when connected across the power supply. It is suitable for a voltage of 250VAC and a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, with a power of 220W.

An SL10 2R505-A inrush current limiter is commonly used in air-conditioners, power supplies, automotive electrical systems, lighting control, and power conversion appliances.
