Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are protective devices designed to safeguard electronic and electrical equipment against lightning and power surge transients caused by external sources such as lightning strikes and powerlines. The SL1011A145C GDT is a transient voltage protection device designed to provide highly reliable protection for circuits operating at 340 VDC or lower. The SL1011A145C GDT is constructed using a small Semiconductor GDT, a GDT capacitor, and a GDT resistor connected in series, the three components are designed to act together as a high frequency combiner.The SL1011A145C GDT combines the features of an integrated circuit GDT with the traditional air gap arrester. The SL1011A145C GDT has an integrated circuit GDT with capacitive discharge with a fast response time. The GDT capacitor provides a fast response to high voltage transient pulses that is capable of suppressing voltage spikes in both positive and negative polarities. The GDT capacitor has a very low leakage current of 10 microamps per volt of applied voltage which is perfect for applications where low current drain is critical. The GDT resistor helps to ensure that the voltage applied to the GDT is limited to a safe level.The SL1011A145C GDT is most commonly used in power electronics applications such as telecom, telecommunications, base station equipment, and powerline communications.
