It works by detecting a rise in the electrical current flow in the line, which results in a spark being generated in the gas, and in turn, the current flowing through the tube is dissipated in the form of a gas discharge, which effectively reduces the electrical stress on the network.The SL1024A450C is a type of gas tube arrester that is designed specifically for medium voltage electrical systems with operating voltages up to 115 kV. It features a flow limit of 2,500 A, a breakdown voltage of 3.35 kV, and a dielectric strength of 400 V/mm.
