The SL18860DCT is a low power, high speed Texas Instruments clock buffer/driver. It is used to drive multiple clock lines with minimum skew and jitter, in distributed clock applications. It is highly capable of converting a nominal input clock signal to a number of precise, low-skew clock outputs.

The SL18860DCT helps drive high-speed clocks over significant distances. It enables multiple overclocks and power supply sequencing with precise output spacing. This makes the SL18860DCT ideal for applications that require high performance and reliable performance over long distances.

The SL18860DCT is available in 4 differential load configurations and up to 2.5V output voltage. It features 6 output buffers and can drive a maximum of 16 different clocks. With a power supply of 1.8/3.3V, it is exceptionally power efficient at 0.5mW per output.

The SL18860DCT leverages a 3-stage architecture for advanced clock distribution. In the first stage, advanced signal conditioning is applied to the input clock to ensure precise and stable operation over multiple temperature ranges and operating conditions. In the second stage, the signal is increased in amplitude to prepare for crossing large distances. The third stage drives the signal to the final destination with a skew of 0.6ns. This execution uses low power techniques to ensure minimum interference with other designs.

The SL18860DCT’s signal is shaped as an output signal, with a settling time of 5ns. The voltage and timing on all of the individual lines are synchronized and re-sampled at intervals of 1.2ns. Subsequently, the multi-channel signal’s amplitude is increased to 2.5V to reduce the resistance and signal loss when crossing long distances. The advanced timing, clock routing and location of the logic are all configured to reduce effects from an unpredictable environment and minimize jitter.
