Inrush current is defined as the high peak or surge current that a device first draws from a power source when power is initially applied. Inrush current limiters (ICLs) are a type of component designed to solve this issue. SL32 0R230 is part of the ICLs family, known for its outstanding working principle.

The SL32 0R230 is a fast-acting thermal cut-off device installed in power supplies which serve as over-current protection and quick response against inrush current. It has a small compact size and offers a high degree of current protection, adjustable between 0.2A and 0.35A. This makes the device suitable for a range of different applications in consumer electronics, mobile phone charger, and gaming machines.

The working principle of SL32 0R230 can be divided into two stages. The first stage is that of a resistor, which limits the amount of current that is allowed to reach the circuit electric components. This helps to reduce the surge when the power source is initially applied. During this stage, the resistor is connected directly to the power source and limits the rise of inrush current to a safe level.

The second stage of the SL32 0R230 is that of a cutter. This works by using a bimetallic strip which is attached to the resistor.
