SL32 4R023-B Inrush Current Limiters (ICL)Inrush currents are transient voltages or currents that occur when electrical power is applied to an electrical load for the first time, or after the load has been physically disconnected from the power source for a period of time and then reconnected. Inrush currents usually last for a microsecond or less but can produce much higher loads than normal current levels. In certain situations, such as with sensitive electronic components, these transient inrush currents can be damaging. Inrush Current Limiters (ICLs) are safety devices used to reduce and control inrush currents in power systems.SL32 4R023-B is a type of reverse conduction Inrush Current Limiter. This ICL has a maximum peak voltage of 32V and is capable of limiting momentary inrush currents up to 40A. It also features a small foot-print and ult-low voltage drop capacitor, making it an ideal solution for compact power systems. The device also has automatic start-up, adjustable current limiting, and thermal protection.The working principle of the SL32 4R023-B Inrush Current Limiter is fairly straightforward. When the device is powered up, it turns on a low resistance switch, which controls the peak current drawn by the load. As current passes through the load, it is sensed by the voltage sensing coil connected between the switch and the power supply. As the current rises, the voltage drop in the coil increases, limiting the current flow and preventing an inrush overload.The operation of the SL32 4R023-B can be categorized into two main phases.
