The SL5500S optoisolator is a unique component in the optoisolator market, combining a non-vacuum-packed, high-voltage photovoltaic cell with a field-effect transistor (FET) output. This makes the SL5500S ideal for applications that require both high-current and high-voltage signals, such as power inverters and motor control systems.The SL5500S combines a 1 watt photovoltaic cell and a 30V FET in a single package. The voltage/current generated by the photovoltaic cell is then forwarded to the FET, which in turn produces an output voltage and current according to the voltage applied to its gate. The SL5500S is available in three varieties: the SLC5500LF, the SLC5500SF, and the SLC5500CF. The SLC5500LF is designed to operate on lower input currents and provides a maximum output current of 200mA. The SLC5500SF is designed to operate on higher input currents and provides a maximum output current of 500mA. Finally, the SLC5500CF is designed to operate on even higher input currents and provides a maximum output current of 1A.
