TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressors) diodes are normally-off bidirectional, voltage-dependent devices that are designed to protect sensitive circuits from high voltage transients; such as ESD (electrostatic discharge), EFT (electrical fast transients) or surge currents. The SLD28-018-B TVS diode is no exception – it provides reverse voltage protection up to 18 volts and can withstand peak power dissipation up to 1.0 Watts.
This robust diode is ideal for applications such as protecting data lines (Ethernet, RS232, USB, etc) and controlling surge current pulses, whilst its common-mode transient immunity of 6kV allows it to be safely deployed in numerous AC power line situations. The SLD28-018-B is constructed of anodic filament and epoxy molded plastic casing. The case provides a high degree of rigidity, enhancing the electrical performance of the TVS and the plastic offers superior moisture resistance.
The device is also rated for typical leakage current of 0.2uA (at 5V reverse bias) and a maximum capacitance of 4.5pF, making it an ideal choice in order to reduce the risk of device damage in a system. Furthermore, its temperature range of -40 to 125°C enables it to be used in a variety of environments.
