The Working Principle
The SM320F28335GJZMEP consists of two cores. These two cores work together in tandem to process data, execute instructions, and to control the peripherals associated with the microcontroller. The two cores run simultaneously, however, the priority of each core can be varied allowing the processor to switch processing power between the two cores as the application requires.
The first core is the 32 bit RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) core that is used for controlling the peripherals associated with the microcontroller and for executing the data and instructions at a very high speed.
The other core is the Integrated Digital Signal Processor, or DSP core. This core is dedicated to performing arithmetic operations and is ideal for digital signal processing, making the device ideal for use in applications that require high speed digital signal processing.
The SM320F28335GJZMEP also features an extensive peripheral set that can be used with the two cores. These peripherals can be used for data acquisition, control and communication.
