The SMAJ100A-E3/1 is a TVS (transient voltage suppressors) diode, often utilized to provide protection from transient voltage conditions such as those caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD). It consists of a bidirectional diode array, a pair of capacitors, resistors, and two shielded wires which are connected to the diode\'s anode and cathode. When the transient voltage rises above the pre-programmed threshold voltage, the diode opens and allows the current to flow from the anode to the cathode, letting the voltage drop back to its normal level.
The SMAJ100A-E3/1 is mainly utilized in very sensitive equipment such as medical tools and instruments, communication devices, and automotive parts that are exposed to harsh environment conditions. It is suitable for use in power eletronics circuits, as well as high voltages applications. Its superior clamping performance allows fast reaction to large voltage swings and reduces component damage.
