The SMAJ160A R3G is part of a package of semiconductor devices commonly known as TVS – Diodes. The complete package includes Transient Voltage Suppressors (often abbreviated to “TVS” for short) and Thyristors. This package combines three different devices; the TVS, the Thyristor and the diodes. Each type of semiconductor device has its own unique characteristics and function, and all of them are designed to provide robust transient protection to various types of electronic circuits and systems.

The SMAJ160A R3G features a voltage clamp design with “reverse biasing”.
