It is designed to protect against transients up to 600W peak pulse power, with a breakdown voltage of above 18V. A fast response time ensures accurate protection against transients, and a lead-free 0.1uF ceramic capacitor is connected in parallel to reduce peak surge amplitude.ESD ProtectionIn ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection applications, the SMAJ48CA-TR can be used to protect sensitive electronics from ESD voltages caused by static buildup.When an electrostatic discharge occurs, the SMAJ48CA-TR breaks down and conducts current away from the protected component. The TVS diode is connected from the protected component to ground, and is designed to breakdown at a voltage above the ESD threshold.
