SMAJ6.0CATR Circuit Protection

TVS – Diodes, also known as Transient Voltage Suppression diodes, are used to protect devices from voltage transients, also known as “spikes”. TVS-Diodes provide protection to devices from electrical noise, which could exceed the recommended voltage rating of the device. The working principle of the SMAJ6.0CATR is relatively simple. When excess voltage or current is applied to the TVS – Diodes, it conducts a portion of the current to the ground or to the output terminal. This limiting pre-determined current conducting the device and protecting the equipment from damage.

The SMAJ6.0CATR can be used in a variety of configurations, including common-mode, differential-mode, and single line configurations. In common-mode configurations it is used to protect two wires from simultaneous over-voltage, while in differential-mode the TVS – Diodes are used to protect each line independently from over-voltage. In a single line configuration, it is used to protect one wire from an excessive over-voltage.
