TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes are specialized components designed to protect sensitive electronic components or circuits from high voltages, and even from electrostatic discharge (ESD). SMAJ6.5CA M2G is one of such components. TVS diodes are usually used in the automotive, computer and telecommunications industries.TVSs are semiconductor devices, made from a silicon material and insulated with a ceramic substrate. They are typically PN junction devices, with the same construction as normal PN diodes, but with a much higher threshold voltage. These transients are generated from a wide range of sources such as automotive ignition systems, fluorescent lights, and ESD damage from direct and indirect contact.
