SMBJ4745C/TR13

Working Principle

When a voltage greater than the zener breakdown voltage is applied across the diode, electrons flow from the P-type material onto the N-type material during the avalanche breakdown. This causes the diode to conduct a current in reverse direction. This current provides a path between the anode and cathode, allowing the reverse current to flow in a regulated manner. This regulated current is controlled by the voltage applied across the diode.
