The SMBJ6.5D-M3/I TVS diode is a unidirectional version of these devices and is designed for use in typical low voltage applications such as semiconductor protection or general circuit protection.The SMBJ6.5D-M3/I is a low capacitance, low profile unidirectional device that is capable of intercepting small transients up to 6.5 volts. This device is rated for a maximum peak current of 400A, with a peak pulse power (PPP) rating of 15.6W with an 8/20 μs pulse. Its low capacitance of 0.3pF and low profile make the SMBJ6.5D-M3/I ideal for use in high speed digital and analog applications.The SMBJ6.5D-M3/I TVS diode is constructed of an epoxy-encapsulated, diffusion resistor that is connected to a diode and covered with a junction serenade. The diffusion resistor acts as a Zap Guard that diverts surge current away from the chip and onto the diode which then passes it onto the junction serenade, which acts as an energy absorber. This arrangement allows the TCZS diode to efficiently dissipate large surges of energy while providing effective protection for the circuit.When a transient voltage is applied to the device, the diode quickly switches to its off state and conducts current, thus preventing the transient voltage from propagating any further. When the transient current has been dissipated, the diode quickly switches back to its on state, allowing normal operations to resume.The SMBJ6.5D-M3/I TVS diode is a versatile and efficient surge protection device, ideal for applications where low voltage protection is required. The low capacitance and low profile design make it ideal for use in high speed, sensitive electronic applications.
