The SMBJ60A is an unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode used to protect sensitive components from transient overvoltage occurrences such as electrical surges. This diode, also known as a surge suppressor, is ruggedly-built and highly reliable, with excellent clamping capability and typically fast response times. When electricity surges, it can cause serious damage to important electronic components, such as those in computers, cell phones, or control systems, resulting in expensive repairs and lost time. The SMBJ60A helps to regulate and divert these power surges away from these sensitive and costly items.

The SMBJ60A features an ultra low breakdown voltage, in the range of 60-68 volts, and a relatively low 5 Amp peak pulse current handling. The surge discharge time is typically within tens of nanoseconds.
