TVS – Diodes
Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) diodes, also called ‘avalanche diodes’, are used to protect sensitive electronic equipment from excessively high voltage surges which can cause permanent damage or data loss. The SMBJ70A is a TVS diode that is used to protect components from large overvoltages by quickly conducting current away from them.

This diode is used for protection in communication systems, personal computers, programmable controls, fax systems, and automotive electronics. Working Principle of the SMBJ70A
