The SMCJ100ATR is a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode. This device gives protection to a variety of systems and components from sudden strong voltage spikes.
The SMCJ series of diodes consists of three different types, the SMCJ100 ATR being the one with the highest breakdown voltage of 100 Volts. The SMCJ100ATR diode is a bidirectional diode, which means that it can work in reverse polarity to its normal bias.
