SMCJ160A-M3/57T TVS - Diodes are electronic components designed to provide protection in a circuit against transient voltages due to lightning, power surges or short circuit faults. SMCJ160A-M3/57T TVS -Diodes are designed to clamp transient voltages seen in a circuit, protecting other sensitive components from exposure to any damaging overvoltage. They operate by allowing a transient voltage surge, much higher than the normal operating voltage, to flow through the device. This surge of electron flow is then dissipated across the diode at a faster rate, in the form of heat, than the normal electron flow. By diverting the transits surge via the diode, the overvoltage spike is eliminated and the main devices attached to the circuit are kept safe from harm.
Using advanced Zener Breakdown technology, the SMCJ160A-M3/57T employ an ultra low capacitance design which makes it ideal for protection of high speed data lines up to 8kV. The device uses unique circuitry to absorb fast rise time transients with minimal energy, producing extremely low clamping voltages which makes it suitable for greater portability.
The SMCJ160A-M3/57T is designed with a wide operating temperature range and a long life cycle. The low insertion loss helps to maintain signal fidelity and with the use of a highly reliable slot construction, the diode is less prone to failure.
SMCJ160A-M3/57T TVS - Diodes are extremely versatile components and can be used in a variety of applications, such as protecting equipment from high-level transients in battery systems, protection against voltage spikes in electrical systems, and protection from voltage transients in telecoms, computer and computing systems. In addition, they can also be used as an alternative to MOV\'s (Metal-oxide Varistors) as they are more reliable and have a higher surge current rating.
