Transient Voltage Suppressor or TVS diodes are the form of low capacitance, bidirectional, unidirectional or three terminal protection devices that are specially designed to protect sensitive electrical, programmable logic circuits from voltage transients caused by ESD or electrical surge. They come in a variety of footprints to cater to specific requirements and the SMF75AHRQG is one such part with its own set of applications and working principle.

The SMF75AHRQG is a 600-watt unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor diode for voltage surge. Ideal for protecting voltage sensitive components from transient fault currents, it is based on a silicon low capacitance planar design. A green mold compound and SMA package makes it well suited for both automated and manual board loading and unloading. Being 0.65mm in thickness, it takes up very little board space and comes with a solder profile that meets the requirements of JEDEC/IPC for reflow soldering.
