The SMLJ78CA are TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes used to provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in sensitive electronic devices. During this state, the device will act like a low forward voltage drop diode, allowing current to travel from both the anode and cathode to the other.It is this forward voltage, as the device dissipates the energy stored in its capacitance, that is ultimately responsible for protecting the circuit.Application Field
