The SMV1247-040LF is a variable capacitance diode with a reverse breakdown voltage of 5V. These diodes are made up of two-three layers of p-n junction formed in a lightly doped semiconductor. When a reverse bias is applied, the depletion region between the two regions of opposite types of charge widens and the capacitance between the junction terminals increases. This increase in the capacitance is known as the “tuning ratio” of the diode and is used to fine-tune circuits and systems. The height of this diode is 28mil and the width is 17mil.
