Then when the clock is low, the output will remain with the data until the next rising edge.
The slave latch works in a similar way as the master latch, but its clock is controlled by the clock input (C1). Thus, its four inputs D4–D7 and output Q4–Q7 are different from the master latch. When C1 is high, the data written onto the slave latch will be released onto its output Q4–Q7. This process allows the latches to not only store data but also transfer data through the data lines.
The chip has two active low asynchronous reset inputs, active high clear input and a preset input. The asynchronous reset allows the reset of the latches when needed. Both positive and negative edges of the reset inputs can reset the chip, making it very versatile in handling situations. The clear input is used to reset the latch and also to safely remove power from the device.
In short, the SN74ACT563DWR is an effective dual 4-bit latch device that is low-power and has a wide usage in multiplexed address-data bus applications. It contains two independent latches, enabling data to be both stored and transferred from one latch to the other.
