Logic multivibrators are electronic circuits which function as (usually) two-state devices. They consist of two amplifying elements which are linked by some form of feedback. Their operation is based on the principle of positive feedback. In other words, the output of one amplifying element is connected to the input of the other and the process is repeated until a stable state is reached. A fundamental characteristic of a multivibrator is its ability to switch between two stable states at a predetermined frequency.
The SN74AHC123APWR is a type of logic multivibrator which is suitable for use in a variety of applications. It is a dual-input positive-edge triggered dual-resistor four-bit monostable. The device features two independent eight-stage triggering stages, two programmable outputs, and two outputs. The two programmable outputs are used to control the gate times and output pulse ulvage.--

The device also features an internal turnoff function which prevents the outputs from being driven for more than the programmed number of clock cycles.

When the external logic device is driven by a SN74AHC123APWR, the device will act as a bi-stable flip-flop and the logic states of the outputs will not switch until the internal logic state of the SN74AHC123APWR changes.
